Here comes the herd

On: Sunday, April 13, 2008

Ewan has a ton of toys or at least it feels like it when I am cleaning, but he only has a few kinds of toys that he really plays with.  He has a huge bin of cars and he has the herd. The herd is quite diverse as you can see and they are quite traveled as well.  The herd goes all over the place with us, in the car, to the beach, to Grandmas, the North Woods of WI, church. They are also accomplished swimmers, they swim regularly in the sink, tub, lake, pool.  If there is water available and the herd is around they will probably be taking a swim.  The herd are also faithful companions, they are always willing to play.  You might think it weird to write so fondly of plastic molded animals but when your child can use his imagination for hours with those plastic molded animals they become like plastic molded friends.  The herd are probably the best money I have spent so far on toys and I highly recommend to anyone with children that does not have a herd to get one.

Wise and Hysterical words from a 16 year old.

My sister Theresa is 16 years young and she has quite a good sense of humor, she also has a wise old soul, in my opinion.  These are her thoughts on premarital sex.

"It's like a bathing suit, you try it on at the store but until you buy it and take it home you don't take your under ware off."

Is that not hysterical,  my sister is so funny.  It's a new take on- Why buy the cow when the milk is free.  A lesson to us all, don't have premarital sex and don't try a bathing suit on with your under ware off.

Family time

This Sunday Brian and I decided that since it was such a beautiful day we would take the kids to the Botanic Gardens.  Once we started walking around Ewan declared that he wanted to go over to the bell tower, so that is what we did.  We walked over to Evening island and sat on the grassy hill that was covered with crocuses and ate our picnic lunch. The kids were wondering around and when Anwen would go too far he would go and kindly take her hand and lead her back to our picnic spot.  For once I actually had my camera so of course I was snapping shots of my children getting along and looking so cute.  At one point they were walking hand in hand and I thought what a great picture, maybe even the Christmas card picture, so I started snapping shots.  This first picture was what I saw when I had the thought about the Christmas picture.  This second picture is actually more reflective of my every day life with the kids, Ewan in the midst of pushing Anwen to the ground. At least I was able to get a glimpse of what it might be like to have angelic children that always get along.  I guess kids will be kids, and we did have a very wonderful time at the gardens despite the little pushing event.
